The NHS advise is to avoid the heat by not going out between 11am and 3pm, which is the hottest part of the day.
Keep rooms cool by shutting the windows and pulling down the shades if the temperatures are hotter outdoors than inside.
When it’s cooler – and if it’s safe to do so – then you can open the windows for ventilation.
Identify the coolest room in the house where you can seek solace.
And at night, sleep on cotton sheets and maybe use a fan which you can make more effective by placing frozen water bottles nearby.
Even though there are hosepipe bans in place, water is your friend in the hot weather. Have a cool bath or shower and splash yourself with cool water during the day. Also remember to drink it regularly and avoid excess alcohol and caffeine or drinks that are high in sugar.
