Metro Rod solve drainage problems in High Wycome, Buckinghamshire

If you live and work in High Wycombe you can be sure that Metro Rod Aylesbury & High Wycombe are available to resolve your drainage problems, large and small!

High Wycombe is a town in Buckinghamshire that is south of Aylesbury and for Metro Rod, it is a town we know very well. From unblocking toilets in homes with only one bathroom, to ensuring that walls of urinals remain unblocked in pubs, from maintaining grease traps in commercial kitchens, to gutter cleaning, to pre-planned maintenance of drains, including CCTV drain surveys and installing localised structural repairs for our no-dig drainage solutions, we have seen it all! Taking a moment to look up from drainage, we're going to highlight some of the things that make High Wycombe great.

  • Wicumun: High Wycombe popped up in history as a settlement in 970 going by the name Wicumun!
  • Close second: according to the data made available via the Office of National Statistics in 2016, High Wycombes population is second only to Milton Keynes within the county of Buckinghamshire.
  • Fat Cats: High Wycombe holds the unusual tradition of weighing the mayor and charter trustees every year in order to assess how much the elected officials have gained on the tax payers expense! Thankfully for the officials, their actual weight isn't called out, rather the town crier announces either "And no more!" or "And some more!"
  • Fire and Brimstone: the famous Hellfire Caves are situated in High Wycombe and were once the location of meetings for the Hellfire Club, but today are a tourist attraction you can visit.
  • Dambusters: another tourist attraction is Hughenden Manor, which was the home of Victorian Prime Minister Benjamin Disraeli and later played a pivotal part in the Second World War, including hosting the planning for the famous dambusters raid in 1943.
  • Take in a show: The Wycombe Swan is the place to go to watch anything from stand up, to ballet, to panto at Christmas!
  • Famous alumni: the John Hampden grammar school can count chef Heston Blumenthal and author Sir Terry Pratchett amongst its former pupils, and that's just to name a few!
  • Lucky number 13: speaking of grammar schools, Buckinghamshire still carry out the eleven plus exams to select pupils for their 13 grammar schools in the county.
  • Kick about: the local football team Wycombe Wanderers were founded in 1887 by a group of tradesmen, and have been joined over the years by a womens division and a youth division for both sexes.

No matter whether you live or work in High Wycombe, if you have a drainage problem you know who to call to sort your drainage out and get your drains unblocked! We've been working in this area for 20 years so we know it well.
