Mid Lancs recruits first ever Apprentice
Metro rod have recently introduced there very own apprenticeship scheme in drainage inspection maintenance and repair. It focuses solely on drainage and plumbing and has been built exclusively for Metro Rod and accredited by The Institute of Training & Occupational Learning (ITOL).
Jack is 22 and whilst completing his training as a apprentice drainage engineer will work alongside our experienced team and be put through all his training courses including High Pressure Water Jetting, Street works and CSCS. Starting out as an apprentice he will have the opportunity to grow into a Senior Drainage Engineer, on completion of the apprenticeship he will have earned a nationally recognized level 3 ITOL Qualification which equates to two A levels.
His assessments will be through a combination of written tests, observation and assessed practical work. The apprenticeship scheme has been designed to provide a structed learning program that will give Jack the necessary skills to become a successful and professional member of the Metro Rod community.
The benefits are the training and development will take place while Jacks in the workplace dealing with “live” problems – meaning he will earn money as he learns. It is a 2 year program and an excellent opportunity to gain qualifications and experience.
Jack is very excited about this opportunity, he is already enjoying the challenges and the variety of different jobs that he is attending.
