What is Trenchless Sewer Repair?

Sewer and water lines are vulnerable to several issues simply because of how old they are.

You may be stuck with corroded, broken and cracked drains and pipes and you probably have no idea why. Sometimes properties have pipes that aren’t big enough to accommodate the basic needs of your household.

These are addressed by a replacement of the drainage or plumbing system.

These repairs are naturally extensive and mostly dreaded by the respective property owners. They start imagining the heavy equipment and destruction of the beautiful atmosphere of their homes and workplaces with a muddy mess. To top it all off, this chaos can result in a heavy bill and work downtime as well.

If you can relate to everything that is mentioned above, we have good news for you. All of the above can be avoided by a trenchless sewer repair, and Metro Rod (Aberdeen) are experts in trenchless no dig repairs.

Trenchless Sewer Repair

This form of repair is a desirable alternative to the tradition and ‘messy’ repair.

It constitutes the no-dig technologies that can be used to fix water lines or sewer pipes. There will be no potential damage to your beautiful ambience, minimal disruption and no need for extensive cleaning after the repair.

The job can be done without making your property look like an inconvenient construction site.

The Types of Trenchless Sewer Repair

Trenchless Sewer Repair consists of two main forms: pipe relining and pipe bursting.

The Pipe Bursting Method

In this process, two access holes are dug up on either side of the sewer or drain line. Next the new sewer pipe is pulled from the old pipe while simultaneously fracturing the old one outward.

Even if the lateral sewer line has burst, pipe bursting can still be performed. The only prerequisite to this should be that there is enough space to pull a cable through it.

The Pipe-Lining Method

This process involves the instalment of a pipe-liner which is also known as cured in place piping. To go through with this, a pipe-liner or patch is installed inside a damaged pipe in order to avoid actually removing the old and damaged pipes. This pipe-liner is a flexible tube which is pulled through an access hole and within a few hours there will be a new pipe inside the old one.

This process reduces the diameter of the pipe by a small amount and doesn’t affect the efficiency of the pipe to remove waste. This option is however not for you if your plumbing system has collapses.
