The delicious Dorset Blue Vinny Cheese, made in Stalbridge has topped of an award winning year, at the prestigious World Cheese Awards, in Bergen, Norway winning Gold.
The World Cheese Awards showcase the best cheeses from across the globe and are judged by a panel of specialist cheese judges. 3,742 cheeses from 41 different countries were entered with the top cheeses being awarded a gold, silver or bronze award.
This year the famous Dorset cheese has won Best Blue and People's Choice at the Great British Cheese Awards in October as well as awards at the Dorset Food & Drink Farming awards that took place in September.
Bringing back a 300 year old recipe, the family have been producing Dorset Blue Vinny at their North Dorset farm for nearly 40 years and are the only commercial makers of the cheese. Using fresh milk from their herd of Freisian dairy cows, Dorset Blue Vinny takes 24 hours to make and is then turned by hand every day for the first few weeks of maturation and then over a 20 week period turned weekly
