The Welsh tenor and BBC Radio host Wynne Evans is guest speaker on the night and will talk about his life, career and those Gocompare ads.

TV presenter Fran Donovan is co-hosting the event with Media Wales managing director Mark Sainsbury.

A judging panel whittled down the entrants to a shortlist.

The panel comprised Ian Clarke from overall sponsors PWC; a representative of last year’s Business of the Year, Alan Brayley from AB Glass; Debbie Green, Woman of the Year 2017; Jonathan Roberts, editor of the South Wales Evening Post; and Lisa Cameron, commercial director of Media Wales.

Mr Roberts said: “Every year the calibre of entrants for the Swansea Bay Business Awards gets better and better, which in terms of whittling them down to a shortlist and then deciding on a winner makes it harder and harder. However it is an honour. We have so many companies in this region doing so many extraordinary things. They all have a great story to tell and it’s our job to tell it, and these awards help to shine a light on them.”

Ian Clarke from overall awards sponsor PWC said: “The Swansea Bay Business Awards represent a fantastic opportunity to celebrate the achievement of businesses in the area, and we are proud sponsors of the awards. “The judging process was again challenging this year, reflecting the strength and diversity of the submissions. What also really struck me was the passion and enthusiasm of all the entries.”

According to Alan Brayley from AB Glass, who won the top award last year, winning really boosted his company’s profile. “It was overwhelming to gain such recognition amongst all the other companies in attendance that were of such high calibre,” said Mr Brayley, who was also on the judging panel. “The event showcased the many successful companies and businesspeople that the Swansea region has to offer, and we are proud to be recognised as one of these leading companies due to our achievements over our 25 years’ business,” he said.
