How to avoid blocked toilets – think before you flush

We are often asked how to avoid blocked toilets. It's all too easy to forget what happens when you flush the loo and where all the waste goes and how it travels along pipes and drains. Blocked pipes will stop water draining away and can be very messy and produce nasty smells. Unless you’re a plumber, it will be difficult for you to know where the blockage is and how to deal with it.

There are some easy to remember don'ts of what not to flush down your toilet that will help maintain healthy drains and ensuring they remain unblocked.

Some of the major culprits are wet wipes, nappies, cotton wool, dental floss and cotton buds that people chuck and flush. These items don't just disappear and dissolve to nothing, unfortunately they pack together causing big blockages that then back up as the water and waste has nowhere to go, causing havoc in the sewage system and disruption to you

That's where we at Metro Rod Dorset are able to help unblock your toilets, drains, septic tanks. Our engineers are on call 24hours for emergency service to homes and businesses, as well as providing a pre-planned maintenance service to help avoid that nasty build up. Call our free number 01258 863745 or message us on our website and we will give you a ring and arrange and appointment.
