Metro Rod Kent & Sussex were recently invited to tender by Brighton and Hove City Council for drain surveying works on their planned refurbishment of New England House.
New England House is a large industrial building comprising of eight floors, with 140 commercial units that accommodates a range of tenants. The building was erected in 1963 and can arguably be considered a challenge to survey due to its uniqueness, various alterations & adaptions, and lack of maintenance. The Brighton & Hove City Council is planning a full refurbishment to the existing building, and as such needed to update their understanding of the building with a full and detailed drainage survey.
After a competitive tender exercise, Metro Rod was selected to carry out a full drainage survey. The work was undertaken over three days and the team at Kent & Sussex provided the Brighton & Hove City Council with regular updates. Due to the challenges of the New England House building, the Operations Supervisor at Kent & Sussex carefully guided the client through all the stages of the survey, as and when they were being executed and followed this up immediately afterwards with a very detailed explanation of the physical properties and condition of the drainage system. Although the client is a building professional, he appreciated the way the team relayed their findings in a prompt and detailed manner which enabled him to keep his team up to date.
During the project, Metro Rod operated in a live environment, and under the restrictions of COVID-19 in a safe, respectful, and professional manner. The team arranged themselves around the needs of the client’s business without any hindrance or complaint to ensure disruption was kept to a minimum and everyone on-site remained safe.
“I am extremely impressed with the level of service and attention to detail that was provided by Metrorod. The team at Kent & Sussex were courteous, approachable, and professional throughout. Nothing was a problem and their calm, safe and professional approach was and is appreciated by staff and clients at Brighton & Hove City Council.” - Joe Beckett, Brighton & Hove City Council
