Metro Rod North East was proud to sponsor the annual Disability Sports Awards. This is our firth year sponsoring an award. We are overwhelmed each year by the amazing sporting achievements. The awards took place on the 14th March 2019 at The 100 Club, Kingston Park Stadium, Newcastle upon Tyne.

We sponsored the Team of the Year award which was won by Northern Thunder Powerchair Football Club who are an amateur sports team that are going from strength to strength. The team are getting ready to hold trials to add new players to their national league team.

Hosting the awards was Commonwealth Games Gold medal-winning gymnast Craig Heap. Craig did a brilliant job at making sure the night ran smoothly with lots of entertainment.

Northumberland Sport said ‘We are over the moon to see so many Northumberland sports men/women and coaches recognised for their achievements and contributions’.
