All over the country we have been united in facing a new enemy – Storm Ciara.

As always with the weather there have been whispers of a storm coming over the last few weeks and here at Metro Rod Birmingham we have been getting prepared for the worst. The worst has luckily come and gone and we are now facing the aftermath of Storm Ciara in Birmingham.

With over half of the flights leaving Birmingham airport cancelled, trees falling on cars and rail tracks, resulting in severe delays to public transport services, and power cuts around the West Midlands, we have not had it easy over the last week. So what does that mean for Metro Rod Birmingham and the drainage systems in Birmingham?

First of all after the yellow weather warning was issues last week there was a risk of flying debris, flying trees, flying roofs and of course this damage to buildings has caused damaged drains in need of repair. Metro Rod Birmingham have been working hard to repair drains that have been affected by the storm for example through damage caused by external factors such as debris. We have also had to be resilient in our water control across the Birmingham areas as due to the storm several areas have flooded. Flooding, as we know, can be extremely dangerous and if untreated can cause severe problems.

With over 500 homes said to be flooded around Birmingham it is important to ensure Metro Rod are called in to help with flooding issues. Our skilled engineers are on call 24/7 to respond to such an emergency and our Vacuum and Combination Tankers are able to reduce flood levels and even unblock major blockages.

Our tankers can carry up to 3000 gallons of water and have the capacity for high volume jetting, vacuumation or a combination of both. These tankers are definitely a rival for Storm Ciara as they can blast away rubbish, tree roots and debris in drains, sewers and large pipes.

Metro Rod offer ‘pre-planned maintenance’ which can help reduce the risk of flooding. This can be set up annually and will ensure your drainage system is working to the best of its ability. As well as preparing for national weather conditions such as Storm Ciara, the pre-planned maintenance can help remove a build up of silt and debris which can as a result cause blockages and flooding. We can use ‘higher pressure water jetters’ to clean these drains and ensure that we use this method of prevention to stay safe.

Metro Rod Birmingham offer services across Birmingham, Solihull, Walsall or Dudley  and surrounding areas. Dealing with blocked drains, drain repair, CCTV surveys and septic tank maintenance. We believe in simple things and make sure we follow them through; available 24/7, professional, value for money service during and after the job and peace of mind in the fact that all our engineers are highly trained, DBS checked and fully insured.
