Drain repair: 'No Dig' Localised Structural Repairs (LSRs)

Look no further, Metro Rod West Yorkshire is here to save the day, every day in fact; 24 hours, 7 days a week.

Let us get to the root of the issue with our CCTV Surveys. There may be several reasons as to why you may decide that you need to inspect your drains. Drains can become both blocked or damaged. If you have blocked drains or know someone who needs us to unblock drains, check out this article here to see what could be causing the blocked drains.

Here at Metro Rod West Yorkshire, we are extremely proud of the way our engineers pull together and strive to deliver a professional, first time fix. All techniques currently used in drain repair are approved by local Water Authorities and the WRC (Water Research Centre).

The Process of "No Dig" Drain Repair

The most popular service is a "no dig" drain repair. This procedure of drain repair does not require excavations and instead used various lining techniques. Over that last 30 years, Metro Rod West Yorkshire has developed and perfected such techniques with the option of multiple materials to provide the most cost-effective and efficient drain repair solutions.

No-Dig Drain Repair options vary depending on the application, but they all involve inserting a liner into a drain which is impregnated with resin. The liner is moved into position, whether it is local or full length, and then inflated to give a watertight drain repair by effectively making a thin strong layer inside the existing drain. When the required cure time has elapsed, the means of inflating the drain repair is removed to restore the full drain function and integrity.

Localised Structural Drain Repairs (LSRs)

  • Patch Liners – This localised drain repair offers a cost-effective solution to fix individual defects within a drain or sewer.

  • Ambient Cured Lining – Ambiently cured lining consists of the full or partial lining of sewers or drains to cover multiple defects.

  • Heat Cured Lining – This is like Ambient cured lining; however, Heat Cured Lining is predominantly used for larger diameter pipes or where increased resistance to chemical attack is required.

  • Excavation – Excavation is the traditional method of drain repair and replacement and a technique used for new drains, drain replacement, to rectify collapsed drains or to gain access to lining drain repairs.

A localised structural drain repair (patch) is a short section (600mm and 1000mm) of a woven fibreglass mat, that is cured in place using a 2 stage resin. This patch is secured to an inflatable packer and pushed into the location of the defect, where it is inflated using compressed air to the diameter of the pipework. The patch is left to cure for 2/3 hours when the packer is then deflated, & removed from the drain. As the drain repair is under pressure, this allows any excess resin to impregnate any structural defects such as cracks & fractures, and bonds them, as well as the pipework, to the drain repair. Here's a before and after of a patch liner:
