Metro Rod Glasgow launches Name the Tanker Competition

Working in the Glasgow Community

As part of our commitment to the local community, our Business Development Manager, Mhairi MacLeod, recently had the pleasure of visiting the Brownies of Westwood District in East Kilbride to talk to them about  drainage and its impact on our very fragile environment.

They discussed what you can and cannot put down a drain and Mhairi was very impressed at the Brownies’ knowledge, in fact it was better than most grown-ups! They established that you definitely cannot flush Minions down the toilet.

They talked about the growing concern surrounding fatbergs and how this can impact the environment. The Brownies quickly picked up the difference between surface water and foul water. Whilst the Brownies really enjoyed talking about poo all evening, the event also supported Metro Rod in delivering a strong message about environmentalism and the impact each individual can have in reducing waste and saving water.

Getting creative

The girls were given pictures of Metro Rod Glasgow’s new tanker to colour in. The tanker is the latest piece of equipment to be purchased by franchisee owner Andrew Johnston and strengthens the Metro Rod commitment to providing a full drainage service to businesses and residents across the Greater Glasgow area.

The end results were fantastic. The tanker was given a spectacular make-over – such a pity we can’t paint it all the colours of the Rainbow in real life. Maybe one day?

Name The Tanker

The Brownies were also given a very important task; to think up a name for the new tanker. Thankfully, there were no suggestions of Tanker McTankerface!

The best three names are going to be selected, and we need your help to choose a winner. We’ll shortly be announcing the shortlist over on our Twitter page. Pop over and vote for the name you think should win.

As a thank you to the Brownies for helping name such a prestigious part of the Metro Rod fleet, franchisee owner Andrew is going to donate some camping equipment to Westwood District Guides.
