SIGNS YOUR DRAINS MIGHT BE DAMAGED – METRO ROD NOTTINGHAM

Being able to spot when your drains are damaged is the first step to getting them repaired and preventing any worse problems arising.

Leak Pipe

The drains in and around your property are used constantly on a daily basis, so it is not surprising that they will be subjected to wear and tear resulting in damage. Knowing the first signs of damaged drains will make it easy to notice when things are going wrong. Damage in your drains can escalate over time, resulting in expensive problems, not to mention potential health risks. With the danger of bacteria building up and spreading you’ll want any problems looked at and fixed as soon as possible.

Here are the most common signs that there is damage to drains so you can be aware of what to look for:

  1. Bad Odours

A common sign of a broken or damaged sewage pipe is noticing a smell of sewage in and around your home or property. This can be quite easy to identify as it can become quite strong and unbearable making it a very noticeable sign. If after cleaning the drains out, you still notice a smell then it could be indicative of structural damage which will need looking at and repairing as soon as possible.

  1. Water Pooling

Water pooling is a sign that there is damage to drains, it can be found at the base of the toilet, around the shower, bath or sink and even outside. It is likely to mean that there is a leak in your pipes causing the damage.

  1. Damp and Mould

When a drain becomes damaged chances are it might start to leak which may lead to damp and mould becoming visible on you walls, floors and ceilings. You’ll want this to be looked at as soon as possible so that the damage to your home or business doesn’t worsen and threaten the structure of your property.

  1. Slow Drainage

Slow and poor drainage can often creep up on you, you might start to notice the shower not draining as normal or the toilet water draining away slower. This is a very common problem and is often caused by something blocking and restoring the flow of water. If you have checked for anything obvious blocking the drains such as hair or pieces of food, and it is still not draining as normal then there may be more serious damage. If this is the case Metro Rod will be able to carry out an inspection and find the problem and a solution for you.
