Regional Operations Manager
Thomas took over the business in 2010 from the previous owners who had been running Metro Rod Notts/Derby for the previous 18 years. The business came with two engineers, Alan Wheatley and Neil Vincent. The business has since moved forward and has 6 drainage van packs on the road and 7 engineers. They also have 4 office staff and a contracts manager.
Thomas has been married for 16 years and has 3 boys that keep him busy with football and other sports. Thomas enjoys cycling, walking and watching rugby/football.
Sasha Joined us at Metro Rod in January 2011, after her third son started full time education. She runs the office alongside 3 other members of staff and is in charge of the admin and accounts side of the business.
In her spare time she likes to spend time with her family, eating out and walking with friends.
Regional Operations Manager
Ricky has been at Metro Rod since 2011. He started as an apprentice engineer learning all aspects of drainage which includes HPWJ, CCTV surveys, pipe lining, patch works and excavations. In 2015 Ricky moved into the office and is now Regional Operations Manager.
In his spare time, Ricky likes to take his son to watch Nottingham Forest, bike riding, going to the pub (when he’s allowed) and spending time with his family.
Alan is Chief Engineer in the business and has been here for 20 years. Alan’s work ethic and experience is valuable for the team and has helped resolve many problems faced by the whole team. His work was rewarded in 2016 when he won engineer of the year for the whole of Metro Rod. Alan has two sons in the business and trains all new engineers here, this allows the new members to gain valuable experience in all aspects of training.
Alan enjoys cycling and he supports Nottingham Forest.
Neil has been in the drainage business for 13 years and is a very experienced engineer. He carries out CCTV surveys and reports and his general knowledge in this area is second to none. Neil is instrumental in helping engineers as he takes calls regularly for any problems the engineers face.
Neil loves his Harley Davidson and goes biking regularly. He also loves his newfoundland dog called Storm.
Lee is a senior engineer and our chief plumbing engineer, he has been here for 8 years and is very experienced in all aspects of drainage issues and carries out most of our plumbing duties.
Lee loves his cricket and is a keen cycler and Forest supporter. He also served the armed forces for 6 years.
Andy is our very experienced excavations engineer, Andy has been with the business for 4 years and in this time he has helped us develop our excavations work and made us confident in quoting in works we previously had not done.
Andy is a keen bird watcher and avid gardener, he spends most weekends down at his allotment.
Ash is a very experienced engineer and over the years has been working with various drainage companies which has given him a wide variety of techniques and training to make him a very accomplished engineer.
Ash is a scout leader in Warsop and enjoys following his favourite football team Derby County.
Glenn joined the business a year ago and is now a fully trained engineer, he carries out camera surveys and all aspects of drainage.
Glenn is into his football and is an avid Manchester United fan. Glenn is into his basketball also and plays for his local team.
Jonny is our newest member of staff and is being trained by Alan on all aspects of drainage. We are currently setting training in place and over the next few months we hope to have Jonny on the road and a fully trained engineer.
Jonny enjoys skydiving and other extreme sports.
