Stinky smells from your drains? Metro Rod Dorset can help.

Bad Smells In The Kitchen Or Bathroom?

Bad smells coming from your drains are unpleasant.  They are also an indicator that there may be a problem lurking in your pipes.

What To Do?

Identify where the smell is coming from.

Bathroom or Kitchen Sinks

Check for the build-up of organic waste such as rotting food, fats, and hair. Remove visible debris and then pour boiling water down the plug.  Wait for a few minutes then flush through with cold water. If this doesn’t work a solution of baking soda and white wine vinegar may solve the problem.  If the bad odour persists seek the advice of a drainage professional such as Cornwall’s Metro Rod.

Sewers and Toilets

Bad smells emanating from toilets or sewer pipes can be caused by blockages.  Wet wipes, tissues, cotton buds, sanitary items, and hair are but a few of the many things that should be binned, not flushed.  They get stuck in the pipework and cause a back up of waste matter.  In this instance prevention is the best solution so only flush the three P’s – Pee, Poo and Paper (toilet).  Sewer blockages can be difficult to clear and may need professional jetting.  If you are concerned about a potential blockage we will be happy to help. We can establish both who is responsible for the repair (homeowner or water authority) and the best approach to the problem.

If you have concerns about continuing bad smells coming from pipes just give us a call and we will be happy to assist.  We offer a 24/7 service covering the entire Duchy.  Our engineers are never far away with great local knowledge and years of experience in the drainage service.
