This year’s theme for NAW2019 is “Blazing a Trail” and our apprentices Shannon and Jonny have definitely done this in Metro Rod North East.
In 2018 we made a decision that we wanted to expand and grow our business by looking for employees that would bring new energy and passion to our team so we decided to employ two new apprentices. We employed Shannon in our office on a Business Administration Apprenticeship and Jonny as a Plumbing Apprentice; both have now completed their apprenticeships and are permanent team members.
Our apprentices both showed a huge appetite to learn and overcome our expectations of them. Employing apprentices has widened our pool of applicants and also gives us a more dynamic workforce. We have an advert out at the moment for a new plumbing apprentice and Metro Rod have a very exciting new venture – Metro Rod Apprenticeship Scheme! Keep an eye on our social medial for more information.
Shannon, 19 has said the following about her apprenticeship and time at Metro Rod North East:
“Doing an apprenticeship has given me knowledge and confidence whilst getting paid. I’ve really enjoyed it and would recommend to my friends. My favourite thing to do is the customer reporting, I enjoy the technical side of it and getting all of the information together to produce a report. I am continuing on to Business Administration Level 3 and I look forward to progressing with my education whilst working at Metro Rod North East”.
Jonny, 19 has said the following:
“Working for Metro Rod with my apprenticeship has given me key skills and a good understanding of the work place environment and enhanced my knowledge of plumbing. I have found out my likes and dislikes within my working field and have a strong confidence to go out on my own as an emergency plumber”.
We would not hesitate to employ Apprentices in the future and would recommend it to any organisation thinking of taking the leap and diversifying their team.
