We’ll soon start to see autumn in full force, with the colourful leaves falling and covering the ground outside. While this may look lovely it can have an adverse effect for our drains. As the leaves make their way into drains it will take a while for them to breakdown and disintegrate so it could mean they buildup and lead to flooding and overflowing of your drains. Drain Guards
You can invest in a drain guard which will stop autumn leaves blocking your drains as well as prevent other debris from falling in, whilst still letting the water in. You will have to regularly clear the guards to keep them working effectively, the leaves will build up and if left too long water will no longer be able to get through which may result in localised flooding around the drain.
Raking up leaves
There is no way around leaves falling off trees and it will help if you are regularly raking up the leaves in your garden. If you make a habit of this everyday it shouldn’t take too long and will definitely help.
Wet-Dry Vacuum
