Pump installation and chamber reconfiguration for Horizon Resource Centre, Cambridge

Pump installation and chamber reconfiguration for Horizon Resource Centre, Cambridge

Following some project updates on Linkedin an enquiry was received from a new client, GSH Facilities Management. In attendance with GSH Project Manager Graham, our site surveyors Shaun and Trevor visited the Horizon Resource Centre in Cambridge to investigate ongoing drainage issues and create a solution for their client.

After thorough investigations, it was identified that the configuration of the laterals in the external chamber were the cause of re-occurring blockages.

A quotation to reconfigure the existing laterals was submitted to GSH Facilities Management for consideration along with a quotation to install a sump pump to create an outflow in the plant room to prevent any flooding.

Once accepted and the correct health and safety permits completed, our operatives soon got to work ensuring these works were carried out in a timely manner, keeping disruption to a minimum while of course adhering to the correct health and safety procedures.

Shaun and Trevor carried out an excavation to reconfigure the pipework in the external chamber, removing a straight entry lateral to create a sweep, improving the flow through the chamber.  Once the surrounding block paving was reinstated it was time to move onto the installation of the sump pump.

An internal excavation was carried out in the plant room to allow for the installation of the sump pump followed by the connection of the pipework and flow tests to ensure the correct functioning.

Our client was so pleased with the works carried out and the customer serviced received, here is what they had to say

“Metro Rod provided us with a quotation to rectify drainage issues to a toilet block and to install an overflow outlet within our plant room. I personally met Metro Rod on site and excavations were safe and risk free from the public. All communications to date have been positive and those on the other end of phones and emails are approachable and helpful. Since works have been complete, we have had no issues. This is the first job I have undertaken with the Cambridge Franchise and hope it to be the first of many.” – John GSH Project Manager
