Our engineers visited a property in Sutton, Ely where a large sink hole had appeared at teh front of a vunerable customers property.
This hole was believed to be caussed by a faulty drainage system. Our fantastic engineers Trevor and Shaun were tasked with the job of investigating what had caused the hole to appear and ofcourse, repair the issue so that the lovely owner of this property was safe to wonder freely around her front garden.
Using a drainage pump to remove the water filling the area the engineers were able to identify the cause of the problem. The lid of a rainwater harvest tank had collapsed causing the ground above to fall into the tank. After carrying out a RISK assessment of the area and the tank and confirming the tank’s pumps were no longer live, the engineers were able to enter the tank.
A CCTV Camera was used to investigate where to tank connected to and if it was serving a purpose to the property. The results showed that the tank was in fact redundant and wasn’t serving any purpose to the property.
After discussing the customer’s requirements, the engineers were able to get to work with removing the pump, the collapsed lid and safely back fill the tank making sure this was compacted and safe to reinstate the customers driveway.
