The case behind the requirement to unblock drains. A fatberg is a thick mass that can be found in your drains, formed by the combination of non-biodegradable solids such as wet wipes and cooking fat.
As reported by The Guardian, a Fatberg was found recently, reported to be 64-metres long! It will have been a tough job to tackle and unblock.

It seems “Flushable” wipes may not be so flushable after all. Manufacturers have been insisting that their products are “flushable” with it written all over the packaging of the popular products for years. However, just because they disappear out of sight when we flush away, let’s not assume that it’s safe to do so as they, in fact, contribute to blockages that cost millions a year to remove.
Research by WRC has shown that over 75% of all blocked drains is made up of wet wipes.
