Did you know that Metro Rod provide drainage services in St Helens?


St Helens, (birthplace of entertainment legend Johnny Vegas and also the group The Lancashire Hotpots!) is 11 miles east of Liverpool, 23 miles from Manchester and has a population of just over 102,000. With a population this large it’s no wonder that Metro Rod have many call outs to drainage problems in the town, ranging from blocked toilet problems, leaking pipework, root cutting, CCTV survey requirements (for home buyers and on new building sites alike).


We here at Metro Rod recently got a call out from one of the local hotels who said that guests had been complaining of bad smells coming from the bathrooms.   Several of them had toilets whose water levels were rising too high when flushed and two guests had also complained that their sinks were draining really slowly.  The hotel knew that they had a problem and so immediately called in Metro Rod.  They knew from previous experience that we are fast, professional and offer great value for money.


We knew that this problem was potentially very disruptive for site and so acted quickly.  We arrived on site within just two hours and our engineers immediately set to work, setting up our specialist equipment and starting to investigate what could possibly be the cause of the blocked toilet and other associated drainage problems.  It didn’t take long for our engineers to find out the problem in the main drain.

Once ‘the obstruction’ was removed our engineers tested all of the lines and ensured that the blocked toilets were no more and all of the associated smells and slow draining sinks were fixed.  Of course they were!


The Maintenance Manager of the hotel said “We were so impressed with the speed that Metro Rod sent their engineers out to us, the lads were friendly but professional, they knew what they were doing and fixed our drainage problems really quickly.  Our hotel manager has said that we are always to use Metro Rod for any drainage problems that we get on site now, well done!”
