National Teacher Appreciation Day, also known as National Teacher Day, is observed on the Tuesday of the first full week in May. This day is part of Teacher Appreciation Week, which is the first full week in May of each year.

The National Education Association describes National Teacher Day  as a day for honouring teachers and recognising the lasting contributions they make to our lives.”

Teachers play a critical role in educating and shaping our children: the future leaders of our country.  They are kind, patient, hard-working, dedicated and understanding professionals that mold our children’s lives in a positive direction.  We entrust our children with the teachers, and they affect their lives on a daily basis.

HOW TO OBSERVE

It is time to say Thank You to the exceptional teachers that you know.  Let them know that they are appreciated for all that they do. Use #TeacherAppreciationDay or #NationalTeachersDay to post on social media!

HISTORY

Political and educational leaders began discussions for a day to honor teachers in 1944.  In 1953, Eleanor Roosevelt persuaded the 81st Congress to proclaim National Teachers’ Day.  Congress declared March 7, 1980, as National Teacher Day. The National Education Association continued to observe Teacher Day on the first Tuesday in March until 1985 when the National PTA established Teacher Appreciation Week as the first full week of May.  The NEA Representative Assembly then voted to make the Tuesday of that week National Teacher Day.

METRO ROD AND SCHOOLS

Here at Metro Rod Cambridge, we are always delighted to provide professional, expert drain care services to a variety of schools in our area. We provide maintenance services for schools in Ely, Soham, Newmarket, Bury St Edmunds, Red Lodge, Thetford, Brandon, Hunstanton, Cambridge, Kings Lynn, Downham Market and all the villages in between!

Schools will often have re-occurring problems such as drain blockages, blocked drains that require both drain clearing and toilet unblocking services which is where our fully trained, expert Engineers come in! All of our fully kitted out vehicles contain all the equipment needed for checking drains, this will include CCTV Drainage Surveys that will be used to check the nature of blockages and broken drains and pipework. Our specialist cameras record a journey of a pipe run, these are checked by both the Engineer on site and the Camera Survey Department at the office in order to provide a full report of the blockage or damage. All of our engineers who attend local schools are fully DBS checked giving peace of mind.

We also offer a gutter clearing and cleaning service to schools as part of a Pre Planned Maintenance Schedule – although schools have incredible care takers – some jobs can just be a little out of reach! Our ladderless service involves a type of specialised long poled vacuum that has a camera attached so the engineer can clearly see the gutter, this will provide suction at the same time to clear away any silt or dead leaves leaving clean gutters. This kind of service is ideal once the leaves have dropped and at the start of the summer to ensure free flow throughout the year.

Here at Metro Rod Cambridge, we have over 20 years experience providing drain care for local schools – yes that means we have seen it all!! If we can assist you with any drain unblocking, gutter clearning, toilet unblocking drain clearing or drain cleaning services, do not hesitate to get in touch;
