Metro Rod Raises over £10,000 for Mates in Mind to Support Workplace Mental Health

Bringing the Metro Rod Network Together for a Worthy Cause

Metro Rod has raised £10,000 for its charity partner, Mates in Mind, through a series of fundraising initiatives held throughout the year, culminating in a successful fundraising effort at the company’s Mid-Year Conference.

As part of its ongoing commitment to supporting mental health and wellbeing across the workplace, Metro Rod employees, franchisees and partners came together to raise vital funds for Mates in Mind, a leading UK charity dedicated to improving mental health in workplaces and preventing suicide across industries including construction, facilities management and infrastructure.

Fundraising activities have taken place throughout the year, with colleagues at Metro Rod’s Support Centre in Macclesfield raising more than £700 through a variety of themed events and celebrations, including Valentine’s Day, Easter Week and World Cup activities. These efforts, alongside fundraising at the company’s Mid-Year Conference, helped generate a total donation of over £10,000 for the charity.

Mates in Mind is Metro Rod’s chosen charity partner and plays a vital role in helping organisations create healthier, more supportive working environments. Through awareness campaigns, training and practical resources, the charity empowers businesses and individuals with the knowledge, skills and confidence to improve mental wellbeing at work.

Supporting Mental Health Across Our Industry

The fundraising reflects Metro Rod’s wider commitment to championing wellbeing across its network and supporting initiatives that make a meaningful difference to employees, customers and communities.

Laura Howdill, Corporate Fundraising Manager at Mates in Mind, said:

“"We're incredibly grateful to Metro Rod and everyone involved in raising this fantastic £10,000. Partnerships like this enable us to continue supporting organisations and individuals across the UK with the knowledge, skills, and confidence to improve mental health in the workplace. Your contribution will help us continue improving workplace mental health and wellbeing, including vital suicide prevention awareness and support." ”

The funds raised will help Mates in Mind continue delivering training, guidance and support to organisations across the UK, helping businesses tackle mental health challenges and create positive workplace cultures.

Commenting on the achievement, Metro Rod thanked everyone across the network who participated in the fundraising activities and contributed to reaching the £10,000 milestone.

Raising Awareness and Making a Difference

At Metro Rod, supporting mental wellbeing is about more than fundraising. As part of a predominantly male workforce within the drainage sector, the business recognises the importance of encouraging open conversations around mental health and breaking down the stigma that can still exist in traditionally hands-on industries. Through its partnership with Mates in Mind, Metro Rod aims to raise awareness, promote workplace wellbeing and contribute to positive change across the sectors it serves.

The company looks forward to continuing its support for Mates in Mind and building on these fundraising efforts in the future.
