Wonderful team. Spent a lot of effort tracing the sewer blockage. Very confident and reassuring. Full kit to meet any blockage. Very impressed. 2nd visit to remove polluted water in feature pond and waterfalls. Tanker arrived as promised and approx. 3000 litres of sewerage contaminated water removed and replenished with fresh water. Team so dedicated with both serving and helping in so many ways. So caring and helpful. Very greatful and blessed for the care taken in restoration.

Metro Rod Newport & Hereford began in 2006 when founders Colin Witcomb and Gary Cleeves started the business from a small garage with just two engineers and a big ambition: to provide exceptional drainage services around the clock. Their dedication and commitment quickly earned them a loyal customer base built purely on word of mouth.

As demand grew, so did the team. Colin’s son, Ben Witcomb, joined in 2007, progressing from engineer to director and helping to drive the business forward. In 2011, Gary expanded to launch Metro Rod Swansea, while Colin and Ben continued to grow the Newport & Hereford franchise.

A decade later, in 2016, the business celebrated its 10th anniversary and proudly won ‘Franchise of the Year.’ Today, we operate from Crown Business Park in Tredegar, with a team of 36 engineers, 14 vans, and 6 tankers serving customers across Newport, Hereford, Gloucester, Cardiff, and beyond.

Community is at the heart of what we do. We’ve long supported local charities around Newport and are now expanding our efforts across Herefordshire and South Wales. So if you know of a project we could get involved with, we’d love to hear from you.

In 2025, we were honoured to receive the Gillian Walker Award for Outstanding Contribution to Metro Rod, a reflection of the hard work, dedication, and teamwork of everyone across our business.
