About Metro Rod Cardiff

Metro Rod Cardiff began its journey in 2006, founded by Colin Witcomb and Gary Cleeves in a small garage with just two engineers and a big ambition, to provide exceptional drainage services built on reliability, quality, and trust. Working tirelessly, 24 hours a day and 365 days a year, Colin and Gary grew the business purely through word of mouth. One of their first recruits, hired within the first few months, still proudly works with Metro Rod today.

Within two years, the team had expanded to three engineers and moved into a council building to house their growing fleet. In 2007, Colin’s son Ben joined part-time before becoming a full-time drainage engineer and later stepping up as Director to help lead the company’s growth.

In 2011, Gary launched Metro Rod Swansea, while Colin and Ben continued to grow the Newport & Hereford franchise. Their success was recognised in 2016, when they celebrated their 10th anniversary and won Franchise of the Year.

Today, we operate from Crown Business Park in Tredegar, with a skilled team of 35 engineers, 14 vans, and 6 tankers serving customers across Cardiff, Gloucester, and the wider South Wales region.

Community involvement is at the heart of what we do. While we’ve long supported charities in Newport, we’re now expanding our volunteer work throughout Cardiff and surrounding areas. If you know of a local project we could support, we’d love to hear from you.

In 2025, we were honoured to receive the Gillian Walker Award for Outstanding Contribution to Metro Rod, a reflection of the hard work, dedication, and teamwork that drive our success every day.
