About Gloucester
Metro Rod Gloucester began its journey in 2006, founded by Colin Witcomb and Gary Cleeves in a small garage with just two engineers and a commitment to outstanding customer service. Working tirelessly, 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, Colin and Gary built their business purely through word of mouth. One of their very first recruits, hired within the first few months, proudly remains part of the team today.
Within two years, the team had grown to three engineers and moved into a council building to store their work van. In 2007, Colin’s son Ben Witcomb joined part-time, later becoming a full-time drainage engineer and, in time, a director helping to lead the business forward.
In 2011, Gary branched out to launch Metro Rod Swansea, while Colin and Ben continued to expand the Newport & Hereford franchise. Their success was recognised in 2016, when the team celebrated its 10th anniversary and was named Franchise of the Year.
Today, our operations extend into Gloucester and the surrounding areas, supported by a fleet of 14 vans, 5 tankers, and 35 skilled engineers. Based at Crown Business Park, Tredegar, we have excellent access to Maston, Newent, Abbeydale, and beyond.
We’re passionate about giving back to our community, traditionally supporting charities around Newport and now expanding our volunteer efforts across Gloucestershire and South Wales. If you know of a local project we could support, we’d love to hear from you.
In 2025, we were honoured to receive the Gillian Walker Award for Outstanding Contribution to Metro Rod — a testament to the hard work, dedication, and teamwork of everyone across our business.
